Taking a break is a must at times. I work a relatively high stress job, and I have been deeply considering  taking a vacation. I have noticed that lately I want to be alone, craving silence, and I am perpetually tired despite rest. This happen to be some of the signs that you need to take a vacation along with thinking about taking a vacation. If you, like me, thinks it might be time for a vacation, here are some signs you might need one.

You are overworked, always at work, or hating going to work

Has your work increased significantly? Are you working longer hours than normal, working weekends, or bringing your work home? Are you suddenly dreading going to work when you previously loved your job? Either you need a new job or to go on a vacation. Stress, anxiety, and burnout often sneak up on your when you least expect it. Being overwhelmed often lessens your ability to recognize when you need a break. According to Sherrie Bourg Carter, Psy.D. of Psychology Today, the most common signs of burn are chronic fatigue, insomnia, forgetfulness, physical symptoms, anxiety and anger. Taking a vacation reduces symptoms of stress, heart attacks, and other health factors.

You are craving silence and deep peace

Have you been craving silence? Is your soul and spirit restless despite exercise, yoga, meditation, etc? It may be time for a vacation. Quite often the mind and body crave silence and relaxation when overwhelmed. Introverts are more likely to crave silence and peace when overwhelmed compared to extroverts.

Been Living on a Prayer and Possibly Auto-Pilot

Are you essentially living your life on pray and happensauto-pilot? So tuned out and disconnected from the world you don’t even remember the day of the week let alone the month. When you are on autopilot you may feel lifeless or bored. You are making unconscious decisions about your life that don’t think align with the way you wish to live. According to Renata Salecl, 96 percent of people admit to living on autopilot. People let their minds wander when they are depressed or unhappy, and living on autopilot can have you sleepwalking through your own life.

What about you? Do you think you need a vacation? Are stressed out and overwhelmed? It might be time for a vacation.
