As the new year and the winter starts to roll in officially I remember all of the things I love about winter. Living in Michigan winter can last for months quite often starting in November and ending in March. But my absolute favorite parts of winter are usually from December to February. Sadly, we haven’t been getting much snow in December lately. Anywho, here the things that I love about winter.
Hot chocolate is amazing. I just want to know who decided to take chocolate and put it in warm milk to serve to people. Amazing. Smelling hot chocolate transports me to a time where I can sit in front of a warm fireplace, and read a book. Occasionally as a small treat, I will get a caramel hot chocolate in the middle of the work day. Tasting the warm chocolate in my mouth with the melted caramel hits the spot. I am proud to say that I have particular mugs just for hot chocolate.
Sadly, I have yet to have an apartment or house with a fireplace in it. It will definitely be a deal breaker when I finally start looking to buy a house. Fireplaces are so warm, and relaxing. Sitting and bathing in the heat, listening to the crackle of the wood burning while talking to a friend or reading a book. Sigh they are so romantic.
Chill, Soup, & Stews
I don’t understand how people can eat chili, soup and stew in the middle of the summer. I can only eat them in the winter or when there is a slight chill to the air in the house. Putting the ingredients in the crockpot or instant pot, and coming home to a simmering, aromatic pot of food sounds amazing. Honestly, if I was not on Whole30, I would definitely make a pot of White Chicken Chili.
This list could easily go on and on with all the various things I love about winter. What are some of your favorite things about winter? Leave a message in the comments.
