COVID-19 Series: Managing a Beauty Regimen

I would be lying if I said I have been maintaining my beauty routines during this COVID-19 quarantine because I really haven’t been. My skin has been begging me for some much needed tender loving care.

I would be lying if I said I have been maintaining my beauty routines during this COVID-19 quarantine because I really haven’t been. My skin has been begging me for some much needed tender loving care. It isn’t as though I go outside for my beauty regimen needs, I handle almost all of my care with the exception of the occasional wax and eyebrow threading. But with me being quarantined to my boyfriends for the time being, much of my self-care items are at my house leaving me unable to handle much of my basic care.

Prior to the  quarantine starting, I was considering finding a dermatologist as I was starting to notice some roughness, darkness, and dullness appearing around my mouth and nose. But of course, that thought process was paused with everything going on. Since I haven’t been able to get into the dermatology office, I have been experimenting with different facial products and regimens to try to get the result I desire. That experimentation is how I have been adding a little self-care into my weekly routines.

  1. Using Facial Mask

I have been hitting Target and Walgreens up for facial masks lately. Normally I would use a bentonite clay mask and continue on my way, but I have loved the individual clay and peel mask. I don’t like the sheet mask as they are too big for my face and seem to really be effective for me. I haven’t found a brand in particular that I love so I have been using different products each time. I am thinking about starting a Youtube page to review these products as I have been having so much fun. My boyfriend has been enjoying them as well.

  1. Foot Scrubs and Mask

The other day, I tried a foot mask for the first time that I got from Target and Oh MY God it was a game changer. Since I am a runner I scrub my feet weekly while showering, so I didn’t expect much.  I will admit that the slippers were very gross and squishy on the inside, but after a while you ignore the feeling. My boyfriend even went in on the fun, and after 60 mins we washed our feet. It was amazing. Our feet were so soft and smooth. Several days later the peeling started (so gross), revealing the smooth and oh so soft skin underneath. I will definitely use another foot mask. I am currently looking for a hand mask to use.

  1. Under Eye Cooling Pads

I tried the under-eye cooling pads meant to stop under-eye circles and bags, and I was amazed. I don’t really have  circles or bags, but the cooling sensation of the gel pads was calming and relaxing. The area under my eyes was relaxed and soft. I would try these again as well.
